Dr. Fabian Hia

Fabian received his PhD in Medical Science from Kyoto University, Japan, where he studied how synonymous codons and tRNA availability affects translation efficiency and mRNA stability. After graduation, he obtained a post-doctoral fellowship to investigate factors involved in co-translational mRNA decay in humans. He believes that deepening the understanding of how these factors are play a role in protein translation will allow us to develop systems and platforms for sustainable protein production.

After relocating back to Singapore, Fabian joined the SMART AMR-IRG where he is currently involved in the development of a platform to enhance protein yields in cell lines, in a cell- and environment-agnostic fashion.
