Hoi Lok acquired his Ph.D. of Biomedical Engineering from National University of Singapore in 2019. His 4 years in NUS was dedicated to fabrication of bioassay together with aptamers, working closely with the platform provided by AYOXXA Biosystems GmbH. After graduation, he spent 9 months in Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN), A*STAR as a postdoctoral fellow and focused on unnatural DNA aptamers. His work included the hydrophobic DNA synthesis and unnatural aptamer selection called exSELEX. 

Hoi Lok, being passionate about assay and product development, decided to jump back to the field of bioassay. Therefore, he joined the Sikes’ group in SMART AMR IRG as a postdoctoral associate. His current project is the development of a rapid POC assay that can evaluate immune protective profile against SARS-CoV-2. He is also interested in developing a multiplex detection platform of the POC test.
