Dr. Wu Junzhou

Dr. Wu Junzhou joined AMR as a senior post doctoral associate in Prof. Peter Dedon’s Group in July 2022. He received his bachelor and master’s degree from Peking University. Then, he completed his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Shana Sturla at ETH Zurich in 2019. After that, he received an early postdoc mobility fellowship from Swiss National Science Foundation to perform postdoctoral work with Prof. Peter Dedon at MIT from 2020 to 2022.

Junzhou’s research is focused on developing a new MS-based technology for the quantitative mapping of RNA modifications. Current methods for RNA modification mapping involves next-generation RNA sequencing, which is chemically nonspecific, relies on antibody enrichment or misincorporation events during reverse transcription, and is semi-quantitative at best. Junzhou’s innovative method enables relative quantification of multiple RNA samples in one LC-MS/MS analysis to minimize the technical variability during sample handling and MS measurement. This method provides a novel strategy for RNA modification sequencing and quantification, aiming to provide valuable knowledge on the biological impacts of RNA modification in an ‘omic’ scale.
