Franciscus Chandra (Francis) is a recent graduate from National University of Singapore (NUS), holding a Bachelor of Science(Hons.) degree in Life Sciences. Prior to joining AMR, his lab experiences include projects under NUS Department of Biological Sciences, working on plant stress resistance and soil microbiome, and a summer attachment at A*STAR Genome Institute of Singapore to develop CRISPR-based therapeutics.
He is mainly interested in translating basic science to real-world applications, especiallyon topics that intersect environmental and agricultural biology. Currently, he is working under Prof. Eric Alm to develop a wastewater-based surveillance system for arboviruses – such as Dengue, Zika, and Yellow Fever – that is real-time and cost-effective.
